Throughout your PALS course, you'll learn to assess, recognize and provide high-quality care to pediatric patients experiencing life-threatening medical emergencies. In addition, our course will challenge your critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, and help improve your teamwork skills to provide better patient care. This course is only valid for re-certification, you need a valid PALs credentials to participate. This is a hybrid computer and in-person course, where you will complete a pre-assessment online, prior to the course, and complete the skills portion and post-assessment in-person. Sedating the Pediatric Patient: Dr. David Rothman
(7 CEs) 9:00 am-5:00 pm Where: Vdara, Hotel and Spa, 2600 W. Harmon Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89158 Registration extended to January 16, 2023 or until spots fill up. Limited spots available This course will review the current practice and recommendations for pediatric minimal and moderate sedation. Understanding your patient and their family is key as is utilizing both pharmacologic and non pharmacologic therapies for successful sedations. We will begin with a basis in psychology, physiology and pharmacology and progress through monitoring, drug selection and office protocols. Despite best practice, sedation and medical emergencies can and will happen. A review of identification and immediate intervention will round out the course. This seven hour course is structured to meet many states' requirements for renewal of sedation permits. Please check with your state board for applicability. The Course Includes: 1. Dr. Rothman received his B.A. cum laude from the SUNY at Buffalo and his D.D.S. from NYU College of Dentistry. He completed a General Practice Residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Anesthesia Residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, and a Pediatric Dentistry Residency at Children’s Hospital/Oakland and the University of California, San Francisco. He was Director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency program at UCSF and in 1989 assumed the Chair of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He entered private practice in 1989. Currently he is Clinical Associate Professor at Case Western Reserve University Department of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rothman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rothman is president of the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology and past president of the College of Diplomates of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, the California Society of Dentistry for Children and the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. He lectures nationally and internationally to dental and medical groups in the areas of pediatric dentistry, behavior management, pain control, sedation, anesthesia and hospital dentistry.
