Please join us for our PALS & BLS recertification course geared towards dental providers who respond to emergencies in infants and children. Throughout your course, you'll learn to assess, recognize and provide high-quality care to pediatric patients experiencing life-threatening medical emergencies. In addition, our course will challenge your critical-thinking and problem-solving skills, and help improve your teamwork skills to provide better patient care.

This course is only valid for re-certification, you need a valid PALs & BLS credentials to participate. This is a hybrid computer and in-person course, where you will complete a pre-assessment online, prior to the course, and complete the skills portion and post-assessment in-person. THIS LECTURE COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR THE GENERAL PRACTITIONER & PEDIATRIC DENTIST TO IMPROVE THEIR SKILLS IN THE PULPAL MANAGEMENT OF PRIMARY TEETH & IMMATURE PERMANENT TEETH IMPACTED BY TRAUMA OR CARIES. FOLLOWED BY A REVIEW ON THE PROPERTIES OF ESTHETIC CROWNS (ZIRCONIA/ BIOFLX) AND THE TECHNIQUE FOR PLACEMENT OF CROWNS FOR PRIMARY TEETH. THE COURSE WILL CONCLUDE WITH STRATEGIES FOR MANAGING BURNOUT IN DENTAL TEAMS AND EFFECTIVE COLLECTION STRATEGIES FOR DENTISTS TO MAXIMIZE REVENUE. 
This course is intended to fulfill 7 CEs.

The Course Objectives:
  • Accurately reach a pulpal & periapical diagnosis in primary & permanent teeth in children and adolescents.
  • Explain recent developments in biomaterials that are used for vital & non-vital pulp therapy for primary &permanent teeth. 
  • ​Understand, recognize, & define new treatment modalities for immature permanent teeth ranging from vital pulp therapy to regenerative endodontics on the necrotic pulp. 
  • Describe  biological basis for vital pulpal therapy for primary & permanent teeth.
  • ​Identify & recommend a proper pulpal treatment modality for primary & permanent teeth impacted by trauma or caries.
  • Understand zirconia and composite’s chemical and physical properties
  • ​Describe differences in design of composite & zirconia crowns for primary teeth
  • ​Learn preparation technique for predictable placement of esthetic crowns for primary teeth
  • Understand how to improve esthetic outcomes of esthetic crowns for primary teeth
  • ​Identify the risk factors for burnout for oral healthcare providers
  • Apply strategies to systems to reduce stress for the dental team
  • ​Implement strategies for managing time and setting boundaries to avoid overwork
  • Understand the insurance claim lifecycle
  • ​​Learn effective communication strategies when discussing patient financing
  • Explore strategies for preventing overdue accounts and reducing outstanding balances​

​Dr. Jarod Johnson has a private practice in Muscatine, Iowa. Dr. Jarod has received advanced training in behavior management, sedation, hospital dentistry, trauma, special health care needs, interceptive orthodontics, space maintenance, oral hygiene, and dietary counseling. His energetic personality allows him to relate to kids on an individual level. He understands the importance of children having a positive dental experience and strives to provide the best care tailored to each child’s needs. Dr. Jarod enjoys educating children and their families on the importance of oral health so they can establish good habits for a lifetime of smiles.  His goal is to develop relationships with each of his patients to establish a dental home that is welcoming from infancy through adolescence.
